September Newsletter

Good Morning, Parents! It’s a great Tuesday!
Happy September!  I hope you and your family are getting into the swing of things for the new school year.  My family and I have settled into a somewhat "frantic" routine!  Just not enough hours it seems in a day!  As usual, we have so much going on for you at Sugarloaf Kids.  Check out what's going on in September!

First and foremost is our SUPER LOCK IN this Friday (Sept 5th).  If you haven't registered- you must do so today online. I have to finalize counts!
Here is the link to register.
SUPER LOCK IN DETAILS
Check in beginning at 6:30 pm on Sept 5th in the SK building
and pick up by 9:00 am on Sept 6th
Lock In is for Kindergarten thru 5th grade; however K and 1st must have an adult chaperone stay the night with them.
EAT DINNER BEFORE YOU COME!  We will be having late night pizza and popcorn and a pancake breakfast made by the Men's and Women's ministries.
BRING: Sleeping bag; appropriate change of clothes to sleep in and one for Saturday;
toothbrush, toothpaste and hairbrush; and a great attitude!

BIBLE PALOOZA is our month long 3rd grade Bible Presentation and Workshops.  If you have a 3rd grader, you are noticing how they are becoming more proficient readers.  What a better way to grow their love of reading and love of the Bible then to give them the most important book that they will ever own!  On October 5th, we will present these Bibles to our 3rd graders at the 9:30 service so "mark your calendars".  Then each Sunday in October at 9:30, we will offer a special workshop to encourage them to use their new Bible.  These workshops include Scavenger Hunt, Eat-your-way-thru-the-Bible and Bible Cake Labyrinth.  The cost for the Bible and workshops is $30 so go online today to register and sign up your 3rd grader at this link!

The EDGE Lock In and Corn Maze is scheduled for October 10th.  This is one of the most fun activities we do all year for the 5th graders.  They won't want to miss it.  Make sure to sign  your child up and any of their friends online at sugarloaf.org beginning September 15th.

We will have another ReCharge Special Event- our annual ICE CREAM SOCIAL!  We will shake things up a bit on this Wednesday night with lots of games and sweet treats.  It is a great opportunity to invite your friends.  No registration required.  Pizza plates will still be sold for $2.
Mark September 24th as a Wednesday night you don't want to miss!
This blog is the place to get all of the details on what is going on at Sugarloaf Kids.  If you haven't subscribed, do so today- sumckids.blogspot.com.

Curriculum Corner:
For 2014-2015 school year, Sugarloaf Kids will be concentrating on Discipleship.  In September, our theme is "I AM's of Jesus".  Your children will learn how Jesus describes himself such as "I am the door; I am the bread of life; I am the vine; I am the light of the world; I am the truth, the way, and the life; I am the alpha and omega, the beginning and end." Workshops will include: Art, Cooking, Games, Missions, and Science.
If your child attends two services, will they have to repeat the lesson?   No, we have special 2nd Service Labs ready to go for those children who are here both hours.   Labs include Computer Lab, Missions Lab, Movie Lab and Game Lab.

Preschool and Nursery children will use GPS for this coming school year- Grow, Proclaim, Serve by Cokesbury.  This is an age appropriate curriculum that teaches our youngest members who Jesus is and how much he loves them through games, crafts, video and other activities.

Offering and Missions:
Beginning in September, our offering will go to help children learn how their tithes are used in the local church.  We will be having a boys vs. girls contest again.   Sugarloaf Kids Care- we are looking to make a difference LOCALLY this school year.
