August Newsletter

Good Afternoon, Parents! It’s a great Monday!
Happy August!  Hope you are all ready for the Back to School rush.  There are so many new things going on beginning in August!  We return to two services at 9:30 and 11:00.  And of course, you know what that means- more opportunities for you to serve each week.  Do you need to find a place to plug in and serve?  Contact Sgawlak@sugarloaf.org to see where that perfect fit is just for you.

This blog is the place to get all of the details on what is going on at Sugarloaf Kids.  If you haven't subscribed, do so today- sumckids.blogspot.com.

Join us on August 3rd for a special FAMILY WORSHIP at both 9:30 and 11:00. There will not being any BLAST or children's services that day except for ages 4 and under in the preschool building.

Beginning August 10th- THE EDGE (our 5th graders only program) will be moving to 11:00.  Your 5th grader can join us for BLASt at 9:30 and then go straight to THE EDGE at 10:45 for "Bible Boot Camp".  Make sure that they are here for the first one.

We will have several SHORT parent's meetings in August so that you can find out what is new for the upcoming school year.  Make plans to attend on Sunday 8/10 or 8/17 at 10:30 in the Stadium.  If you have a 5th grader, your meeting will be on 8/24 at 10:30 in the Stadium.

The Sugarloaf Kids Staff has been busy preparing for a great new year.  As always, our doors are always open if you have any questions or concerns.  We are looking forward to making Sugarloaf the place  your family wants to be!

Curriculum Corner:
For 2014-2015 school year, Sugarloaf Kids will be concentrating on Discipleship.  In August, our theme is "Calling All Believers".  Your children will learn what it means to be a disciple and exactly what Jesus calls us to do.  Workshops will include: Art, Cooking, Games, Science and Storytelling.
If your child attends two services, will they have to repeat the lesson?   No we have special 2nd Service Labs ready to go for those children who are here both hours.   Labs include Computer Lab, Missions Lab, Movie Lab and Game Lab.  Why not try it out for the month of August?

Preschool and Nursery children will use GPS for this coming school year- Grow, Proclaim, Serve by Cokesbury.  This is an age appropriate curriculum that teaches our youngest members who Jesus is and how much he loves them through games, crafts, video and other activities.

Offering and Missions:
During August, our offering will go to purchase supplies for homeless children for school.  We will be also collecting any school supplies so make sure to pick up a few extra over the next few weeks.  Sugarloaf Kids Care- we are looking to make a difference LOCALLY this school year.
